Meet Our Speaker
Alan Martin
Alan Martin joined the Memorial Church of Christ staff in January, 2015 as the Marriage & Family Life Minister. He originally hails from Cape Town, South Africa where he was a minister and Church planter for 15 years. He is married to Linda – his wife of 36 Years (2015) and they have three adult children, Lee, Tina, and Kurt who live in Dallas, Texas. They also have three wonderful grandchildren, Bella, Abigail, and Japheth.
Before coming to Memorial, Alan served as Professor and Dean of the College of Biblical Studies at Oklahoma Christian University. He also served as the pulpit minister at Holmes Road Church of Christ in Lansing, Michigan whilst completing his Ph.D. at Michigan State University in the area of Marriage, Family, & Child Ecology. He has been a therapist since 1994 and was trained at Abilene Christian University. His undergraduate studies at Harding University in Searcy, Arkansas were in Bible and Psychology. He also completed a 2-year biblical training program at White’s Ferry Road School of Biblical Studies in the 1980’s. Linda is certified in Child Development and thoroughly enjoys working with children at the preschool level.
Alan enjoys reading, golf, and physical workouts and Linda enjoys reading, walking, and spending lots of time with grandchildren.
